Recently I came across a comment on my channel from someone expressing cynicism and jadedness about the lack of authenticity in workplaces.
Did you know that
“successful” people, those in senior positions and high achievers experience moments of dysfunction too?
They just hide it very well or are not aware.
As human beings, we put on various masks unconsciously in order to do well in our various roles. It’s a learnt and conditioned coping mechanism that can become a barrier to achieving breakthrough outcomes.
“Unmasking” is a selfwork program I run with individuals who want to live more authentically in their roles as leaders (of organizations, teams, families).
Being our authentic selves can help forge psychological safety and a genuine and truly warm workplace culture. Yet some people struggle because they confuse being authentic with being blunt.
If you worry that your “authentic communication” may offend, hurt or cause conflicts with others, healing can help.
Getting to a state where authenticity builds bridges rather than alienate is possible and attainable!
Some quick tips to catalyze your reflection:
💡What are the “personas” you find yourselves being in the different arenas and domains in your life?
💡What are the moments in a day you hold yourself back from saying something you truly feel?
💡What are the beliefs you hold about the hat you are wearing?
This is for all the high achievers who want to turbo-charge positive outcomes where you lead.
